Training Protocol

Training Protocol: Scoring RF on The Parent Development Interview

Protocol for becoming reliable on the PDI/RF Scoring System:

  1. Complete the RF PDI Training course
  2. Complete 5 PDI Practice Set interviews
  3. Review scores with the faculty, and resolve differences.
  4. Complete Reliability Set #1, which includes 10 interviews.
  5. Coder must score an average of 80% agreement on individual variable and overall scores

Protocol for becoming a trainer in PDI/RF Scoring System:

  1. Train to reliability (as described above).
  2. Code an additional 10 interviews prepared for trainers.
  3. Coder must achieve an average of 80% agreement on individual variable and overall scores
  4. Review all scores with the faculty, and resolve differences. For the trainers, this step is very important, so as to insure maximum reliability with expert coders.
  5. Once trained, trainer must take a 3 interview reliability re-test every year once training is complete.

Note: The fee for training trainers will be determined by the individual faculty member in consultation with the trainee.
